The Variety Club Children's Charity was founded in 1949 and aims to help sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the U.K. Whether the charity is raising money to build a paediatric unit, donating a Sunshine Coach to a special school or taking a group of children a fun packed 'Variety at Work' day out, it aims to make a real difference, hopefully putting smiles on faces along the way. ‘The e-Learning Foundation is working to address the Digital Divide by ensuring that all children irrespective of their means have access to IT for learning, when and where they want, giving them equal opportunities to succeed in their studies, break the cycle of disadvantage and to join the workforce of our digital world. www.e-learningfoundation.com‘
Douglas Bader Foundation - Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader, CBE, DSO, DFC, FRAes, DL, became a hero and legend in his own lifetime largely due to his skill as an aviator, and the contribution that he made as an outstanding leader and fighter ace during WW2.His achievements came despite the fact that the young Bader suffered a double leg amputation as the result of an aeroplane accident in 1931. His epic and incredible story has been immortalised in the book and film 'Reach for the Sky'. However, many do not appreciate that it was not for his heroic exploits that Bader was honoured in 1976, but it was for his inspirational work amongst his fellow disabled. It is this work that our charitable foundation established in Douglas's name immediately following his death in 1982, seeks to replicate and develop.
